Bass Rock Cricket Club is a small and friendly club based in the seaside town of North Berwick, in the beautiful county of East Lothian, approximately 30 miles east of Edinburgh. The club plays a full season of midweek and Sunday fixtures against other local towns and villages in an East Lothian League, as well as playing in the Scottish small clubs cup and ad hoc friendlies against touring sides.
The club, which is a member of the Scottish Cricket Union, was formed six years ago in the nearby village of Gullane, well known for its golf courses - including Muirfield, a venue for The Open. The cricket club is now affiliated to North Berwick’s rugby club, giving it access to first-class parking, changing and refreshment facilities.
The club takes its name from the imposing Bass Rock, a small volcanic island that lies off North Berwick and which is home to some 70,000 gannets – one of the largest gannetries in the world. The club therefore plays on one of the most picturesque wickets in the country!
The Bass Rock club is always keen to hear from new players or anyone who would like to try the game. We offer a warm and friendly welcome, with a year-round social and playing calendar. Also, if you are a cricket club thinking of a tour to Scotland, do get in touch.
